Together they have raised and invested over R1 billion in community development in the Eastern Cape.

Jacob Lief 

As the Founder and CEO of Ubuntu Pathways, Jacob brings over 20 years of entrepreneurial and business acumen to the Ubuntu X team. He has been recognized in Fortune Magazine’s ‘40 Under 40’ list of most influential young people in business, a WEF Young Global Leader, Aspen Institute Global Fellow, and guest lecturer and visiting fellow at the University of Pennsylvania.

Tarryn Mthimkhulu

A seasoned financial and business analyst, Tarryn has served as Ubuntu Pathways’ CFO and Managing Director. Her expertise in strategic planning, operations, and management have fueled over 10 years of continuous growth. In addition, Tarryn is a member of the board of directors of Old Mutual’s new R500 million Enterprise Development Investment Fund.

Gcobani Zonke

As the Deputy President at Ubuntu Pathways, Gcobani has a decades-long track-record of leadership; from partnership building with South African Fortune 100 Companies, to navigating local-level politics and leading community engagement. He earned his Master’s Degree at Leads University and was formerly a teacher and deputy principal. Zonke sits on the board of directors of Grey College in Gqeberha (previously known as Port Elizabeth) as well as the Ubuntu Primary School in Zwide Township.
